Jonathon Wins World's Fastest Crimper At The World Pasty Champs!
Huge congratulations to Jonathon Rosevear, who has been crowned the World’s Fastest Crimper at the World Pasty Championships at Eden Project today!!!
We are so proud of you - you did so well 🥇 Not only did Jonathon win in the crimping competition, but we also placed twice in the Company Cornish Category, winning both Silver and Bronze! Read more about that here. We’re delighted with our successes over the day and want to thank all our amazing staff, including Jonathon, who work so hard. What an amazing end to Cornish Pasty Week 2020!
Jonathon also got a special mention in British Baker! Jonathon and Phillip Bartlett from Proper Cornish both tied for first place with 12 pasties, but Jonathon took the title after the judges determined he’d achieved a total of 267 crimps versus his competitors 236. This means Jonathon averaged 22.5 crimps per pasty!
Our crimpers are all trained to make a minimum of 22 crimps in each pasty as standard and, although we knew Jonathon was a fast crimper, we’re really glad his training came through and he didn’t try to cut this number down on the day, as this turned out to be the deciding factor that gave him the edge. This is such a nerve-wracking thing for the crimpers to go through, they are under so much pressure because they are showcasing their profession to the world. We’re tremendously proud of Jonathon!
