Cornish Pasty Week 2020!
Cornish Pasty Week is a campaign created by the Cornish Pasty Association. It runs from Sunday 23rd February, culminating in the World Pasty Championships at the Eden Project on Saturday 29th February.
There will be lots of fun activities throughout the week, starting with the…
World’s Fastest Crimper
‘The hotly contested heats will take place at Heartlands in Pool on Monday 24th February, where fingers will be flying as each contestant crimps as many Cornish pasties as they can manage in three minutes. If last year’s heats are anything to go by, that’ll be around 16-17 pasties. Impressive!
The finalists from the heats will then have to hold their nerve until Saturday 29th February, when they will go head to head on the main stage at the World Pasty Championships at the Eden Project to find out who will be this year’s champion.’
Last year our crimper, Sophie, made it to the finals! Make sure to keep an eye on our socials to see how we do this year.
The World Pasty Championships
‘The grand finale to Cornish Pasty Week, this is the day that professionals, amateurs, the young and the not so young come together at the Eden Project for a day of music and fun where Cornwall’s culinary gift to the world is the unquestionable hero of the day.
Cornish Pasty Association members are there every year, helping hundreds of youngsters make their own Cornish pasty – it’s never too soon to get the next generation of bakers in training!’
The 2020 World Pasty Championships take place on Saturday 29th February. Cornish Premier Pasties will be in attendance of course! We hope to see as many of you there as we can.

Notes to Editors:
Cornish Pasty Week (23rd to 29th February 2020) is an initiative brought to you by the Cornish Pasty Association. The Cornish Pasty Association is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, based in Cornwall, England, led by its members, who are all producers of Cornish pasties. The Association was initially formed as a collective who were concerned about the number of products being sold across the country as ‘Cornish pasties’ but which bore little resemblance to the genuine, distinctive product made in Cornwall. The Association now administers the PGI designation which was granted in 2011 by the EU to protect the use of the Cornish pasty name and also helps anyone who would like to make, buy, sell or find out more about Cornish pasties.
The World Pasty Championships take place every year on the Saturday before St Piran’s Day at the Eden Project near St Austell in Cornwall. Amateur and professional bakers come from across Cornwall, the UK and the world to take part in an attempt to win one of the coveted world titles. More information on the PGI: Protected Geographical Indication: The PGI was granted to protect the quality and reputation of the Cornish pasty and to stop people being misled by pasty makers who traded off the value of the name without producing a genuine product. The status is awarded after a rigorous open process to ensure that products have a genuine reason for protection. It means that the name ‘Cornish pasty’ can only be applied to products that have been verified as meeting the standards laid down within the specification. The protection applies to products made commercially and not those made in the home for domestic consumption.
